Cappadocia – Uchisar : Le Mouton Rouge

Uchizar - Le Mouton Rouge

Today’s post will be a review about the restaurant Le Mouton Rouge in Uchisar.

We stopped at this restaurant on our way to Love Valley. We had been hiking all morning through Pigeon Valley and thought that we would treat ourselves to a nice lunch, sitting in a nicer restaurant than our usual grab-and-go sandwiches places. As we were a little in a rush, we followed blindly the recommendations of the famous blue guide book which pointed this restaurant as an institution in Uchisar. Let’s go! Read more

Cappadocia – Uchisar : Touristic village and rock citadel

Cappadocia Uchisar

Beautiful village of Uçhisar!

Uçhisar is the highest point in Cappadocia and can be seen from far away. It is a very cute touristic village, perfect to spend an afternoon strolling around and enjoy vacation life …

We came to Uchisar from Göreme by walking Pigeon Valley (see post) which I highly recommend if you are planning a visit in the area. It was a really cool hike and very easy to do. No excuse for taking a taxi to Uchisar. We were just on time for lunch but before settling down and enjoy a well deserved meal we decided to walk up to the citadel. Read more

Omurca Art Cafe : Göreme authentic family tea house

Omurca Art Cafe Göreme

After our long day exploring Red and Rose valleys, we headed back to Göreme with one idea in mind : relax! On our way back we passed by a small tea house which we weren’t sure was a tea house or an art gallery in the first place. There were paintings and wood sculptures everywhere and we couldn’t see where the tables for us to sit would be.

We decided to give it a try anyway. If not for the tea, it just seemed to be a fun experience to explore this peculiar place. We didn’t know it then but we just entered our favorite tea house in Göreme. Read more

Cappadocia – Göreme Valleys Trekking Map

Göreme Red Rose Valley

For those who have been to Turkey before, you know how extremely difficult it is to get a precise “up-to-date” map of the country. Mission impossible.

When we arrived to Cappadocia – Göreme, we naively thought that we would find a detailed map of the area at the tourist office. We had planned to spend a week trekking and walking around in the valleys so needless to say that we needed this (holy grail) map. Thankfully we got a “map” (more like a drawing) of Göreme’s valleys from our hotel. Although it was better than nothing it, I must say that it was the most confusing map I have seen. (I shall try to scan it an upload it on the blog so you can see what I mean… different names, confusing paths, etc..). Read more
